Letter to the friends of Voltaire Network

Dear Friends,

For the past 16 years, Voltaire Network has been providing its readers with information and analyses. Despite being the object of incessant attacks, it has become a reference on the international scene. Nothing can stop the numerous debates that were initiated by this website and which have deeply marked recent history.

Our intellectual independence and resistance have been rendered possible by your contributions. However, they have unfortunately declined over the past year. We are aware that the economic crisis no longer allows for the same degree of generosity, but we nevertheless require minimal resources if we are to continue our investigations and publications. Hence my appeal for your financial support.

We are also fully aware that some of our donors have come under pressure which, in some cases, has acted as a deterrent. We have therefore set up a donations system that will guarantee your anonymity.

Precisely because of this anonymity, I will no longer have the opportunity to thank you personally. I am all the more grateful for your help knowing that your gesture is disinterested, as is the commitment of all those who support the Resistance when Power becomes too oppressive. In the short term, they have nothing to gain and everything to lose. But it is always they - you - whom History acclaims when freedom triumphs.
