This associatio is a magnet for neo-conservatives who are reluctant to come to terms with AIPAC’s decline and intend to apply new methods of influence. Its members have played a crucial role in Benjamin Netanyahu’s support of the Republican candidate for the U.S. presidential election, Mitt Romney.

They created Americans for a Strong Defense which has been putting out a series of anti-Hagel television ads. They have also roped in gay right organizations who suspect Hagel of homophobia. Thus, Log Cabin, which comprises Republican Party gays, has purchased advertising pages in the New York Times and the Washington Post, blasting his positions on gay rights, Israel and Iran.
