Syria denounces Israeli-jihadist coordination

On instructions from my Government, I should like to convey to you the following information:

In yet another heinous act of aggression, the occupying Israeli authorities launched missiles at the Syrian Arab Republic in two separate attacks. The first incident occurred at 00.30 hours on Saturday, 2 December 2017, when a Syrian armed forces military facility in the Kiswah area of Rif Dimashq governorate was attacked. The second incident occurred at 23.30 hours on Monday, 4 December 2017, when another Syrian armed forces military facility in the Jamraya area of Rif Dimashq governorate was attacked. While those attacks were taking place, armed terrorist groups launched missiles and mortar shells at various residential neighbourhoods and suburbs of Damascus, causing material damage to the locations targeted, civilian property and diplomatic missions.

The fact that the Israeli attacks coincided with those that their terrorist allies carried out is incontrovertible proof of the coordination, partnership and alliance that exists between Israel, which practices terrorism, and Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), the Nusrah Front and other terrorist groups. Moreover, the Israeli occupying authorities’ continued aggressions against the Syrian Arab Republic are a blatant violation of Security Council resolution 350 (1974) concerning the separation of forces and are aimed at distracting the Syrian Arab Army and preventing it from making further gains against the terrorist groups, most notably ISIL and the Nusrah Front, that are the partners and proxies of Israel. The frequency of Israeli attacks has increased recently. They now occur regularly as Israel strives to protect the terrorists and boost their morale after they were routed in many parts of the Syrian Arab Republic.

The support of Israel for the terrorists in their war on Syria is no longer a secret or a matter of conjecture. Israel has been exposed before all the world’s States and peoples. It is now in open partnership with ISIL, the Nusrah Front and other terrorist organizations, which receive arms, funding, strategic and operational orders, and all forms of logistical support from Israel.

The Syrian Arab Republic once again warns Israel of the consequences of its ongoing attacks against the Syrian Arab Republic and its support for armed terrorist groups. Syria yet again calls on the Security Council to condemn these blatant Israel aggressions and take strict measures immediately, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations, to halt these aggressions and hold Israel accountable for the terrorism it perpetrates and its support for terrorism, the aim of which is to further inflame the situation in the region and around the world and to cause a conflagration.

I should be grateful if the present letter could be issued as a document of the Security Council.
