The process of transferring the three Cuban anti-terrorists who
received new sentences in a federal court in Miami, USA, was completed and they are now in their respective prisons.
The return trip started, indistinctly, from January 26th this year for Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labanino and Fernando Gonzalez, who were re-sentenced from October to December last year in that city, reported Prensa Latina news agency.
Fernando, Ramón, Antonio, Rene Gonzalez and Gerardo Hernandez were arrested on September 12th 1998 and subjected to a biased trial in Miami, in which they were imposed long and unjustified imprisonment senteces, for having penetrated violent groups that organized terrorist actions against Cuba from Florida.
Mirtha Rodriguez, mother of Tony, said that his son, as well as Ramon and Fernando, were driven from Miami to Oklahoma and then to Colorado, Kentucky and Indiana, respectively.
She commented further that all three are in good spirits, have contacted their families and reiterated their messages of thanks to the solidarity movement, both inside and outside Cuba, for the endless expressions of support.
Rodriguez noted that, given the good behaviour of Antonio, time and current sentence, is expected to be transferred from a maximum security prison to a medium one, in the same prison complex in Florence, but it depends on a rigorous review.
Similarly, in Kentucky, Labañino´s case could be evaluated and even during the hearing last December his lawyer requested the possibility of their return to a place with better access to family visits to be examined.
In August 2009, they were taken to Miami, where on October 13 the re-sentencing hearing was held for Tony (21 years and 10 months), and on of December 8th the ones for Ramon (30) and Fernando (17 years and nine months).
Gerardo Hernández (two life sentences plus 15 years) and René González (15 years) were arbitrarily excluded from this process of new sentences.
In the Federal Detention Center they remained on different floors and was on 11 September that could the three were reunited, when the lawyers asked to see their clients, remembered Mirtha.
It was very exciting for them because they had been only eight years ago, during the sentencing hearings of the Five in 2001, she said.
Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court disregarded the international outcry and rejected the defense request that the case was discussed in that forum.
In parallel, the re-sentencing process for three of them, in which a correction was made, but without the justice they deserved
