The 2009 annual report put together by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) reveals that Germany has made a major breakthrough on the world market of conventional weapons [see downloadable document below].
German arms exports more than doubled during the last five years, climbing into third place on the list of the world’s largest weaponry exporters, ahead of France and the United Kingdom.
MP Claudia Roth, Co-Chair of the German Green Party, is demanding greater parliamentary oversight for arms exports.
