The spokesman of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), Abu Mohammad al-Adani al-Shami, on November 21st 2013, called on rebel groups to close ranks against the Damascus government.

This stance contravenes the orders of Al-Qaeda’s supreme leader, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, on November 8, for the dissolution of ISIS in Syria, anointing the Al-Nusra Front as sole representative.
