Denmark has started negotiations with the United States with a view to concluding a Defense Cooperation Agreement. As a precautionary measure, the Pentagon seeks to strengthen its ties with its allies at a time when the continuity of NATO could be in doubt.

For its part, Slovakia has authorized the Pentagon to use two military air bases for a ten-year period.
