A number of elements have been revealed about the personal links between the Muslim brotherhood and the Obama Administration. They permit a better understanding of the role played by the Brotherhood during the ’’Arab Spring’’.
– 1. On the day he took office, president Obama invited Ingrid Mattson to say prayers at the National Cathedral, in her capacity as President of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the association of Brothers and Sisters in the United-States.
– 2. The assistant to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Huma Abedin (wife of ex Congressman Anthony Weiner) is the daughter of Saleha Abedin, director of the female branch of the Brotherhood and collaborator of ex-Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi’s wife.
– 3. Until 2012, one of the people in charge of the Clinton Foundation’s climate project, Gehad el-Haddad, was the son of one of the Brotherhood’s world leaders. He shared his time between the Clinton Foundation and his work as a political counsellor to the Muslim Brotherhood. After leaving the Foundation, he arranged for President Morsi to receive an invitation.
– 4. One of the members the Homeland Security Advisory Council, Mohamed Elibiary, is a Muslim Brother.
– 5. Two different sources claim that president Obama’s half brother, Abon’go Malik Obama (photo), is allegedly a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Just after the military coup that overthrew president Mohamed Morsi and the banning of the Brotherhood in Egypt, Saad Al-Shater, son of the Muslim Brotherhood’s number 2 leader, declared that president Obama was directly involved in supporting the Brotherhood and that he held documents that could incriminate him in the United-States.
Moreover, the vice-president of the Constitutional Court, Tahani al-Gebali, said on Egyptian television that Abon’go Malik Obama was treasurer of a mission run by the Brothers in Sudan (whose president, Omar al-Bashir, is member of a branch of the Brotherhood).
– 6. In April 2009, an official Brotherhood delegation was secretly received by president Obama at the White House, according to Egyptian daily Al-Masry Al-Youm.
