The German government has stripped former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder of his privileges to sanction him for his support for Russia.

As former Chancellor, Gerhard Schröder had a large office not far from the Russian Embassy. In addition, he received a monthly allowance. All for a total of 407,000 euros per year.

From now on he will only be remunerated for the functions he will accept to fulfill in the context of German politics, but not in relation to his status as former chancellor.
