The Islamic Emirate (ex-ISIL) continues its campaign of brutalities in Syria and Iraq (but only those committed in Iraq are condemned by Washington and its allies).
• In Syria, the IS expelled at least 30 000 inhabitants from the eastern city of Chouheil that it seized from the Al-Nusra Front. The population is roaming the countryside, often without food.
• In Iraq, the IS destroyed countless churches and at least a dozen Shiite mausoleums and mosques.
• According to Professor Leslie Roberts of Columbia University, the official figures of victims of the IS in Iraq (1,000 wounded and 1,000 dead since the beginning of the operation) are severely undervalued: they concern only those cases identified by the authorities of people who died in battle, while the majority are civilian victims of indirect strikes especially during a population displacement [1].
In 2004 and 2006, Leslie Roberts had made a highly acclaimed study on the victims of the Anglo-American invasion of Iraq [2]
